We became aware of this restaurant because we knew chef Patrick from his previous position at Antonio's Maitland. I've continued to follow his culinary posts on social media over the years and they are always impressive.
I assumed that Cru Quarters was a private facility for residents, but it turns out it's open to the public, and you can make reservations on Open Table. They've been open to the public for about 8 months and lots of folks are coming in for Bite 30.
We arrived at opening time, 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday and there was not many guests around except the staff. Very nice building and dining room, pleasant environment, clean and new. They have a full bar and many creative cocktails and a good wine list.
Service was excellent and prompt.
For our appetizers we had 2 dishes, the Corn Ribs and also Moscato Peaches.
The Corn Ribs were Roasted Corn “Ribs” with Ras el Hanout, Grilled Lemon Aioli, Parmesan, Cilantro. Tasty though a little awkward to handle especially if you don't want to use your fingers.
The Moscato dish was Compressed Peaches, Crisp Prosciutto, Burrata, Pistachios, Olive Oil, Sorel. This had a light, moist and refreshing flavor, I really enjoyed the crispness of the prosciutto which was a nice contrast to the creamy burrata.
The 2 main courses we selected were filet and salmon.
The filet was tender and cooked just right, it was served with a potato chive bon bon which was a fried mashed potato ball. The chianti truffle au jus added a lot of flavor to the filet.
The salmon was not as moist as I prefer, but I'll chalk that up to my mistake when ordering as the server asked how I would like it done. The salmon was accompanied by a nice vegetable and potato mix along with a good sauce to pour over.
Desserts:
We were presented with a great assortment of desserts, from tiramisu to gelatos and tarts. The creme coulee dessert had a nice vanilla and subtle lemon flavor. The gelatos had very interesting and unique but great flavors. The smoked vanilla gelato was a unique option as was the dark chocolate Zinfandel.
In summary we would definitely return, go earlier if you don't like crowds as business picked up quite a bit during our meal. Afterwards we had a nice stroll around the lake and lovely well cared for property.
